I met Judge Amy Sakalauskas in 2015, through our mutual work with the CBA and on the NSBS v TWU appeal proceedings. Since then, Judge Sakalauskas has acted as a mentor and role model for me, and it was a joy to witness her appointment to the Nova Scotia Provincial Court earlier this year. Colleague in the Spotlight: The Honourable Madam Justice Ellen Picard

This year we shine the spotlight on the Hon. Madam Justice Ellen Picard, who was appointed to the Alberta Court of Appeal in 1995. Madam Justice Picard, who originally dreamed of teaching home economics, is an honorary professor of both law and medicine at the University of Alberta, and is recognized as a builder of the school’s faculty of law.
