Robert Brun, Q.C. of Vancouver is the CBA’s new Second Vice-President-elect. CBA President Kevin Carroll, Q.C. made the announcement on March 19 following the vote by CBA Council.

Bill S-14 was introduced in the Senate on February 5, 2013, and received Royal Assent on June 19, 2013.

While the CBA calls the Victims Bill of Rights Act (Bill C-32) an important step for victims of crime, it is recommending changes to improve the Bill’s ability to withstand possible constitutional scrutiny, protect prosecutorial independence and ensure that the criminal justice system is in fact able to deliver on any rights promised to victims of crime.
