Final Message as Chair

  • July 29, 2021

Dear Section Members:

As I write, I am not at my desk but enjoying some time with my family at the cabin. My hope is that you too are finding time to relax and perhaps gain a fresh perspective.

With my term as Chair coming to a close at the end of August, I want to express my gratitude to all of you for allowing me the privilege to serve and for your ongoing support of our Section’s activities. I also extend my thanks to the Section Executive for their endless enthusiasm and their quality contributions. You have all gone above and beyond – no easy accomplishment, particularly in these strange days.

Looking forward to the fall, please mark October 15, 22 and 29 in your calendars for the CBA Construction and Infrastructure Law Online Symposium, taking the place of our usual biennial conference. The planning committee, chaired by the dynamic Horia Bundaru, has curated a program full of timely topics. We are committed to diversity and inclusion, and are working to bring you industry leading speakers from across Canada. Stay tuned for more details!

Finally, I am thrilled to welcome Marcia Oliver as your incoming Section Chair. Marcia’s CV reads like a playbook for an esteemed legal career that any Section member could hope to achieve. Last year she was the recipient of the OBA Construction and Infrastructure Law Award of Excellence, a highly-regarded and well-deserved recognition. Marcia brings a wealth of experience, a genuine passion for the law and a fresh perspective to lead our Section out of pandemic protocols and into brighter (and dare I hope in-person) days. One of my top reasons for volunteering for the Section year-after-year is the opportunity to know leading lawyers in our specialty from across the country. Marcia is one such star and I am excited for all of you to get to know her starting in September.
