As events evolve in Israel and Gaza, the CBA continues to call upon all parties to respect the Rule of Law as embodied in universal human rights and international humanitarian law and to spare civilians from further effects of this conflict.
We also condemn the rise of hateful words and actions in Canada and elsewhere that have flowed from these events – there is no place for anti-Semitism, Islamophobia, or anti-Palestinian racism.
I want to thank those members who have reached out with their thoughtful perspectives. This is a difficult time for many. Some of us have friends and family who are directly impacted; others feel the effects of the images and stories being shared. We wish to support our members in their concern for the tens of thousands of innocent people in the region impacted by these events, Israeli and Palestinian alike.
