The CBA Annual Competition Law Fall Conference

Ottawa — The Canadian Bar Association (CBA) is holding its annual Competition Law Fall Conference at the Ottawa Convention Centre on September 18 and 19, 2014.

On the agenda are sessions on cross-border price differences; global mergers (pharma, cement, among others), digital/mobile advertising and social media; international enforcement; retail mergers (Sobeys/Safeway, Loblaws/Shoppers Drug Mart, among others); harsher penalties for conspiracy/bid-rigging; and foreign investment.

Keynote speakers include:

  • John Pecman, Commissioner of Competition (September 18, noon)
  • Past Competition Commissioners Melanie Aitken and Lawson Hunter
  • International officials from competition agencies: Stephen Calkins, Ireland; Eduardo Martinez Chombo, Mexico; Roland Green, UK. (September 18, 2:00 pm)
