CBA Annual Competition Law Fall Conference

OTTAWA —The Canadian Bar Association (CBA) is holding its annual Competition Law Fall Conference at the Ottawa Convention Centre on October 3 and 4, 2013. On the agenda are sessions on the latest developments and issues in advertising and marketing, intellectual property, cartels, unilateral conduct, and the disclosure of confidential information in competition cases, among others.

Conference highlights include:

  • A discussion on the latest international developments which will impact the way Canadian companies comply with competition laws here and abroad moderated by Edward Iacobucci, Professor, Associate Dean Research & Osler Chair in Business Law, University of Toronto — Oct. 3, 9:00 a.m.
  • Brian A. Facey, Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP, will interview John Pecman, Commissioner of Competition, about his new position and the current and future enforcement priorities of the Competition Bureau — Oct. 3, 12:15 p.m.
  • A keynote address by Justice Marshall Rothstein, Supreme Court of Canada — Oct. 3, 6:30 p.m.
  • A panel discussion moderated by Julie Soloway of Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP on the new challenges and competition compliance tools for in-house counsel — Oct. 4, 9:00 a.m.
