Get involved in the CBA: Influence the issues

  • April 13, 2018

Want to play a greater role in the CBA? The Association is looking for enthusiastic, engaged, diverse members who want to make a difference to the profession to sit on our Board committees and sub-committees.

Committee members work on a range of projects and legal issues, including access to justice and the future of the legal profession. Sitting on a committee or sub-committee is a way to apply your knowledge and skills, and your influence, to issues that matter to you – from ethics to equality, enterprise risk management, law reform and much more.

The CBA welcomes participation by all members, and strives to include members from diverse communities in our leadership: women, Indigenous people, people of all ethnic and national origins, people with disabilities, people from the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, two-spirit and queer (LGBTTQ) community, and people of different ages and socioeconomic status.

We also consider demographic characteristics such as geography, language, stage of practice and practice type, as well as, wherever possible, including members with an excellent command of both official languages.

Committee members serve for a one-year term that may be renewed for one more year. For more information on the time commitment and to find out more about volunteering for one of our Committees, please visit our individual committee pages.

The application period for those wanting to sit on Board committees and sub-committees opened on April 3 and runs until 8 p.m. EDT on April 30. The new committee and sub-committee members will be announced at the end of July.
