The CBA Sponsored Mentorship Program connects experienced lawyers with early career lawyers seeking mentorship. This year’s program will run from September 2025 to June 2026.
For mentors: This is an opportunity for mentors to have an impact on our early career members, drive engagement with our Section and enhance their own leadership skills. Mentees, in turn, will give back to the section through their volunteer commitments. Mentors dedicate at least one hour per month to mentorship and contribute approximately CAD $250 towards their mentee's fees for the year. They also receive recognition in CBA materials and social media.
Mentees will benefit from mentorship, guidance, and support from seasoned professionals. This program fosters a deeper understanding of immigration and refugee law, expands professional networks, and offers skills-building opportunities through CBA initiatives. Mentees commit to being active members of the CBA Immigration Law Section, participating in a committee or working group, and engaging with their mentor for at least one hour monthly. Mentees pay subsidized a membership fee of approximately CAD $50.
To sign up for the program, please complete our registration survey below. We aim to pair all registrants to the program. However, we cannot guarantee matching for all those who register. Decisions and mentor-mentee pairings will be communicated in late summer 2025.
