The Academy is designed for CBA members across Canada who want to build confidence using AI in legal practice, whether you are just starting to explore AI tools or already experimenting with them. Content is tailored specifically to the needs and obligations of legal professionals.

What will I be able to do by the end of the program?
By working through the Academy, you’ll learn how to test AI tools, refine prompts and build simple prototypes that streamline day-to-day tasks. You’ll also gain ongoing access to a growing set of resources and guidance to help you meet your professional responsibilities and develop AI policies that can be implemented in your organization.

What does the AI Academy include?
The Academy offers:
- A secure space to try out AI tools, experiment with prompts and build prototypes with built-in guardrails.
- Flexible, topic-based modules you can move through in any order (for example, prompt design, prototype-building, risk management and the regulatory landscape).
- Curated learning “paths” that adapt to your preferences, so your experience is personalized.
- A training sandbox with a built-in AI assistant, plus exercises, quizzes and games to help you design tools you’ll use.
- Updated libraries of materials featuring insights from academics, technology experts and legal organizations.
- Practical guidance to help you navigate AI-related obligations and craft firm-ready policies for responsible use.

How much does it cost, and how long is it available?
Access to the CBA AI Academy is included with your CBA membership at no additional cost. The program is available free to CBA members across Canada until January 31, 2026.

How do I join the AI Academy?
If you are not yet a CBA member, start by completing the online membership enrolment form. Once you are a member, you can use the Get Started with the AI Academy using your CBA credentials.

Is the AI Academy self-paced?
Yes. The Academy is designed to allow you to move through the topics that matter most to you, in the order and at the pace that works for your schedule. You can dip into short modules, revisit content and return to the training environment whenever you need a refresher.

Is it safe to experiment with AI tools in the Academy?
The Academy is delivered in a secure training environment with guardrails to support responsible AI experimentation. You should still always adhere to your professional responsibilities, including avoiding the entry of confidential or identifiable client information and ensuring that any AI-enabled workflows you design are reviewed before being used in practice. The Academy includes guidance on managing risks and developing policies that align with your obligations.
