CBA Urges Federal Government to Honour Regional Representation in Filling SCC Vacancies

Five early-stage legal technology startups will compete at the Canadian Bar Association’s (CBA) 2016 Canadian Legal Conference in Ottawa on Aug. 12 for a residency with LegalX at MaRS Discovery District in Toronto and the attention of investors.

The Foundation for Legal Research has awarded the 2016 Walter Owen Book Prize to Pierre-Claude Lafond, professor at Université de Montréal’s Faculty of Law, for his book, Droit de la protection du consommateur : théorie et pratique, published in 2015 by Éditions Yvon Blais.

The CBA 2016 President’s Award is being presented to Daphne Dumont Q.C., a lawyer from Prince Edward Island who has been active in the CBA, women’s issues and her community.
