Young Lawyers - Pro Bono Across the Country: Saskatchewan

May 16, 2014

Many of the lawyers of the Canadian Bar Association, Saskatchewan Young Lawyers South Section volunteer their time and expertise to provide legal services to individuals who are ineligible for Legal Aid but are of limited means and unable to afford legal services. These lawyers participate in various pro bono programs including:

  • The Regina Free Legal Clinic - where lawyer volunteers provide free legal assistance to eligible individuals. Lawyers generally do not represent clients in court, but provide ongoing legal advice to help clients move their legal matter forward.
  • Panel Programs – where eligible individuals are directly matched with lawyers who have agreed to provide full-representation legal services for free. Panels include the Child & Youth Panel Program, Seniors Legal Assistance Panel Program, the Immigration & Refugee Panel Program, Solicitors Panel Program, General Panel Program, Residential Tenancies Panel Program, and the Criminal Appeals Panel Program.

Of the 27 lawyers who form the 2013-2014 Saskatchewan Young Lawyers South Section, at least 22 participate in the above-mentioned programs.
