CBA Environmental Energy and Resources Law Summit

The CBA Environmental, Energy, and Resources Law Section is excited to host our upcoming 2026 conference in Halifax, Nova Scotia this year. Join us in exploring the opportunities, challenges, various perspectives (including Indigenous), and potential legal pitfalls (including litigation risks and regulatory quandaries) associated with recent legislative and policy initiatives designed to expedite the development of major projects such as ports, mines and energy projects. The summit will also explore other recent developments of interest to legal practitioners in the environmental, energy and resources law space both across Canada and internationally.

CBA Environmental, Energy and Resources Law Section Law Student Essay Contest – Gowling WLG – David Estrin Prize

The NEERLS sections is excited to host their Law Student Essay Content – David Estrin Prize. The contest is open to All full-time university students currently enrolled at a Canadian law school at either an undergraduate or graduate level are eligible to enter. Authors must be registered and attend the law faculty of a Canadian university as of April 26.

Call for content

I am pleased to launch a new initiative on behalf of the CBA NEERLs executive team, seeking content related to opportunities, in your jurisdiction, to streamline regulatory processes for projects of national importance relating to the Building Canada Act, to be published on the Section’s Member Articles page.

These may include regulatory and legislative updates, comments on judgments, new initiatives and other developments that have a wider impact the law in your particular jurisdiction and region.

Content received by February 28, 2026 will be considered for the next journal bulletin.

The Section welcomes written covering recent developments, new laws or regulations on this subject matter in your jurisdiction, book reviews, webinar/conference reports or any other material that may be of interest.

All articles submitted must:

  • be in the region of 500-1250 words;
  • must not have been previously published;
  • be submitted in MS word format;
  • acknowledge all sources, but keep end notes to a minimum;
  • include your name, email address, firm/equivalent and city; and
  • include a short abstract of no more than 100 words
