Canadian Corporate Counsel Association Name Change

Resolution passed at the Annual Meeting of the Canadian Bar Association.

WHEREAS the Canadian Corporate Counsel Association (CCCA) Board of Directors has adopted a motion to change its name to Canadian Bar Association – In-House Lawyers (CBA-IL) to better reflect and include of all of its lawyers representing a single client and to more closely identify the organization with the Canadian Bar Association; 

WHEREAS the CCCA engaged a marketing firm to assist in selecting the most suitable option for a new name and consulted with French speaking members of the Board and members of the Canadian Bar Association Quebec Branch to ensure that the French translation for the name was appropriate;

WHEREAS the Canadian Bar Association Board of Directors has recommended the name be changed to Canadian Bar Association – In-House Lawyers (CBA-IL), pursuant to section 71 of CBA Bylaw no. 1; 

BE IT RESOLVED THAT the CBA Bylaws and Regulations be amended to reflect the new name, by striking out Canadian Corporate Counsel Association, CCCA wherever they appear and inserting Canadian Bar Association – In-House Lawyers, CBA-IL in their place.
