I am your Chair for 2018/2019. I feel privileged and honoured to take the helm after a strong year headed by our past chair, Preston Parsons, and to serve the CBA Young Lawyers Section alongside our executive committee members. A little bit about me: I practice intellectual property law at Sandoz Canada Inc., a pharmaceutical company and a division of Novartis. I grew up in Montreal, Quebec and I am, of course, a Habs fan.
The CBA YL Section is where young lawyers can raise and talk about issues that matter most to them and meet like-minded colleagues and mentors at home and abroad.
At home, in collaboration with CBA representatives and young lawyer associations, including the Jeune Barreau de Montréal, we will work on priorities and initiatives important to young lawyers, from mental health and PD content, to advocacy regarding the issues surrounding articling positions, and student loan forgiveness projects. We are always looking for young lawyers to lend their voice to these issues.
Abroad, we will continue to strengthen our relationship with our counterparts globally, including the American Bar Association (Young Lawyers Division) and the International Association of Young Lawyers.
Join us in improving the practice of young lawyers. I hope this year will be fruitful.
