The shorter and colder days are signalling the beginning of another year of programming for the Section. As the new Executive begins its work, the Section is vibrant from the leadership and attention of its past Chairs.
This year, the Executive endeavours to continue its tradition of providing members with quality Brown Bag Seminars, which are relevant coast-to-coast for the wide range of public sector lawyers. Remember, if you are signed up for a brown bag and you are unable to attend due to a scheduling conflict, you can access a recording by contacting us. As a new initiative, we are also planning to host “Coffee Breaks” throughout the year via virtual networking. Members will have the opportunity to engage and connect with one another on various topics of interest to Public Sector Lawyers.

The use of Pronouns within Government and Courts – October 12
The presentation is intended to initiate the conversation around the use of pronouns and form of address. It will also tackle the implementation of pronouns policies and practice directives within governments and the Court. Free for CBA members. Register Now!
We are accepting nominations for the John Tait Award of Excellence!
The award will be presented to a public sector lawyer or law office that has achieved the highest standard of professional conduct and competence and has made a significant contribution to social justice and community affairs.

Essay Contest Winner
The Section is pleased to announce Larissa Parker as the winner of the “In the Public Interest” Student Essay Contest for her paper titled, “Let Our Living Tree Grow: Beyond Non-Justiciability for Public Interest Environmental Claims”. Larissa (BCL/JD) is a recent graduate of the McGill Faculty of Law.
