2019 has begun and the Section is already busy organizing activities for you as Section members.

UPCOMING SECTION ACTIVITIES

We are organizing the following excellent programs, come and join us:

March 26, 2019 (Toronto) – Dayco Twenty-Five Years On and Its Impact On Retiree Benefits

This is a joint program organized with the OBA Labour and Employment Law Section. You can participate in the program in-person (held at the OBA Conference Centre in Toronto) or by webcast.

Save the date: June 6, 2019 (tentative webinar date) – What’s New in Pensions and Benefits: Case Law and Regulatory Update. Stay tuned for more information.

MORE TO COME...

  • Our Outreach Committee is exploring an opportunity to organize joint activities with other professional organizations, as an added benefit to you as a Section member! Stay tuned.
  • We are working on a Legal Health Check on disability benefits as a general information piece for the community. This is a CBA initiative and the Section has been supporting this initiative by writing on different topics in the last few years.
  • The Executive had their in-person meetings with The Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions, the Canada Revenue Agency and Finance Canada in November 2018. We were asked by the regulators to provide input on various hot topics. The Advocacy and Government Relations Committee has the carriage of responding to the regulators’ requests.

WHAT HAVE WE DONE SO FAR

We are pleased to report that we have successfully implemented the initiatives set out in our 2018-2019 priorities according to our set time-frame. Here are the highlights of our completed and ongoing activities.
