Counterfeiting and Trade Offences Committee

Mandate

  1. To focus on and review areas of concern in relation to counterfeiting, trade offenses and the Competition Act as they impact on intellectual property law.
  2. To liaise with other anti-counterfeiting and IP-centric organizations and/or governmental enforcement agencies, including the Law Enforcement, Canada Customs & Revenue Agency and the Department of Justice.
  3. To examine the possibility of legislation to reduce trade in counterfeit trademarked goods and pirated works.
  4. To meet regularly, by conference call or otherwise.
  5. To provide comment and advice to the Section Executive on counterfeiting, trade offenses and Competition Act matters.
  6. To participate and assist in professional development projects.
