The CBA encourages the Chairs of the three Working Groups (mature minors, advance requests, mental illness) established by the Expert Panel on Medical Assistance in Dying to consider the experiences of lawyers and their clients.

The CBA extends offer of assistance on Medical Assistance in Dying studies to be undertaken by Council of Canadian Academies.

The CBA reiterates the urgency of filling vacancies and increasing judicial complements across Canada, noting the critical shortage of judges in Quebec and Alberta.

The CBA recommends amendments to better determine bona fide family relationships to better meet the goal of family reunification in Canada.

The CBA supports passage of Bill C-235, to improve the criminal justice system's responsiveness to people with FASD.

The CBA advocates legislative amendments and comments on proposed studies about medical assistance in dying and advance requests, eligibility of mature minors and of persons with mental illness.

The CBA supports family reunification as an objective of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act. Given the economic, social and cultural benefits, family reunification should be a priority for Canada.

The CBA supports the Statement Against Immigration Detention of Children that urges the government of Canada to cease the immigration detention of unaccompanied minors, children and families to halt the significant harm to children.
