Canada ignores concerns of indigenous peoples in environmental and regulatory reviews

The federal government, through several expert panels, recently conducted hearings across the country on changes that should be made to the environmental and regulatory review system, and received submissions from indigenous communities and their representatives on proposed reforms. This article examines the subsequently released discussion paper, and discusses how the proposed reforms fall short of the changes necessary to address concerns raised by indigenous peoples.
