Tailor Law PC, a boutique style progressive family law firm located in the GTA is seeking a talented, experienced (Family Law) Managing Lawyer to oversee the Firm’s HR and operational business functions.

Successful candidates will possess strong advocacy and communication skills, management skills, the ability to work independently, carry their own client files, and the ability to work well in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Experience with Legal Aid Office(s) in Ontario is considered a strong asset. A minimum of five years’ experience as a family lawyer practising in Ontario is required.

Responsibilities include:

Human resources tasks such as hiring and training new lawyers and staff, assisting with reviews and promotions, determining associate lawyer salaries and billing rates, and also handling terminations.

Additionally, the managing lawyer works to grow the firm through client appreciation events, recruiting events, and educational seminars.

Aside from managerial responsibilities, the managing lawyer will also handle their own active legal caseload. This is a full-time role.

Qualifications

  • Four-year bachelor's degree, along with a three-year law degree from an accredited law school in Canada
  • Active member of Ontario bar; and any other bar associations
  • Must have 5+ years of family law and/or related experience
  • Decision-making, public speaking and supervisory experience is required
  • Advanced proficiency in computer skills, reviewing reports, and budgets; proficient in using MS Office and other related computer applications
  • Excellent relationship building and interpersonal skills, leadership, management/supervisory experience, process improvement, and exceptional communication skills are required
  • Experience in handling complex family law cases
  • Excellent command of the English language, reading, writing, and speaking; must have superior attention to detail skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment; adhering to tight client and court deadlines
