In 2019, RealServus partnered with a leading Canadian venture capital firm to fuel technology development and growth. RealServus is looking to hire its first Legal Counsel as a key member of their executive management team to lead this growth initiative. Much of this growth will come through M&A activity, as demonstrated by the recent acquisition of Property.ca. This individual will participate in both M&A transactions and strategy, assisting with identifying and pursuing potential new targets and taking the lead on transactions with the support of external counsel. They will also provide general legal advice to the operating business units, draft and negotiate various commercial contracts, provide legal support to portfolio of companies, and provide corporate governance advice. This position will report to the President and Co-Founder and be based in Toronto.
An ideal candidate for this role will possess strong negotiation skills and business judgement, with the ability to work independently and be self-structured. You will have approximately 4 - 6 years of general commercial and M&A experience gained at a reputable law firm or corporation. Any experience with commercial contracts and corporate governance will also be seen as a strong asset in this role. This individual will be intelligent, confident and a self-starter. The idea of partnering with the business groups and taking an entrepreneurial approach to provide legal advice will be essential.
