Summary of Responsibilities

 As a family law associate you are responsible for a variety of duties. Working with a dynamic and collaborative team, you will:

  • Service clients in a variety of family law matters including but not limited to separation agreements, divorces, division of assets, spousal and child maintenance, custody, access, and adoptions.
  • Act as a mentor to junior associates and articled clerks


  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of family law practice experience, but applicants with lesser experience are welcome.
  • Must be a member in good standing or eligible for membership with the Law Society of Prince Edward Island
  • Solid understanding of legal procedures in the area of Family Law
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong client relationships and attract new ones
  • Excellent analytical and legal writing
  • Courtroom experience
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong ability to work as part of a team, and independently, in a deadline-oriented environment

Working Hours

Salaried Position: Monday – Friday, 8 am –5 pm

This position will require occasional after hours, or extended hours based on activity of the firm.
