Job Purpose

Global Equity Derivatives (GED) includes Investor Solutions (offering equity and FICC-linked Structured Notes), Equity Derivatives Trading (Options, Swaps and Index Finance) and Corporate Equity Derivative Solutions. The successful candidate will play an integral role in supporting the GED team globally ensuring specific goals, plans, initiatives are executed/delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. The candidate will be involved in managing legal and regulatory risks impacting GED, particularly in connection with the Structured Notes business and assist with the review of offering documentation related to the various Structured Notes programs. Given the nature of the role, the successful candidate will work with and have the ability to build relationships within Global Banking and Markets through various projects, and in other areas of the Bank, such as Group Treasury, Legal and Tax.

The successful candidate should demonstrate a flexible demeanor, strong attention to detail, the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, initiative and excellent organizational skills. The successful candidate will be an exceptional team-player and outstanding communicator, with a strong work ethic and relevant experience to the role. The candidate should be able to work collaboratively and independently with the capacity to synthesize information and instructions effectively to action items. The candidate will be based in Toronto and will report to Director, Business Development within GED.

Key Accountabilities

  • Work with internal and external legal counsel and compliance on matters that touch GED and, in particular, conduct detailed reviews of all Structured Note issuances in Canada and Asia.
  • Assist in the assessment and implementation of new initiatives within GED, including new products, new regions and process improvements.
  • Keep abreast of legal and regulatory changes in the markets in which GED operates.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

 Education/ Experiences

  • 3+ years of professional experience in financial services or law
  • University degree in business, finance, law, or a related discipline
  • CFA candidate or charter holder is an asset
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Job level will be assessed based on the candidate’s experience and skill set.
