As it works to achieve this vision, Extendicare looks to its legal department for legal and operational / business support by working closely with all the business groups and corporate functions within the organization. It is now looking to add an Associate General Counsel to its growing legal team, who will report to the SVP, Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary, and be based in the Company’s head office in Markham (Steeles Ave/Hwy 404).

The ideal candidate will have at least 7 years of corporate/commercial experience gained at a major firm or corporation. Any M&A, securities and/or regulatory experience will also be of interest. This generalist role will involve engaging in a wide variety of matters including reviewing, drafting and negotiating commercial agreements, advising on public company/regulatory matters, and handling day-to-day legal needs. The ability to run your own files independently is essential. In addition to the legal practice experience, the ideal candidate must possess excellent communication and analytical skills and strong business acumen, as you will be working closely with the business operations groups.
