Hagel Lawfirm is a boutique estate law firm located in the heart of Port Credit Mississauga. The firm is looking for articling students to article under Senior Lawyer. The student will be exposed to practicing in estate law area, including estate litigation, estate planning and administration of estate, and gain experience with closing of real estate transactions.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Law Degree from recognized Canadian Law School or equivalent.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess the applicability of legal principles and relevance of evidence.
  • Strong research skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational, administrative and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Excellent written communication skills including the ability to prepare a variety of materials including, letters and memos of law.
  • Proficient in the use of internet, word processing and email applications.
  • Proficient in use of PCLaw, ACL, Xchangedocs & Zoom.

Duties and Responsibility

  • Legal research.
  • Support counsels in drafting court documents such as application records, statement of claims and facta.
  • Compiling productions and Affidavits of Documents.
  • Drafting mediation briefs, settlement proposals and correspondence.
  • Scheduling and coordination with the Court and the opposing counsels.
  • Attending meetings with clients, maintaining meeting recordings and transcribing to meeting notes.
  • Assisting with drafting of wills and power of attorney documents, attending at executions.
  • Assisting with closing of real estate transactions.
  • Commissioning documents and taking oaths.
  • Attending examination for discoveries.
  • Preparing motions and applications materials.
  • Handle all aspects of the file carriage and manage a variety of other file management tasks and work as assigned.
