Tamra Thomson

SPOTLIGHT ON ADVOCACY

Tamra Thomson’s been doing advocacy with the CBA for nearly 24 years, but in her new position of Executive Director of Advocacy she’ll also spend her time looking at the bigger picture, including encouraging more members to participate in the process. It’s not about change so much as evolution, she says.

SUPREME COURT OF CANADA AGENTS SURVEY

Agents have been a requirement for parties to an appeal or reference before the Supreme Court since the 1880s. At a time when all court filings were done by correspondence, it was helpful to have a lawyer with Ottawa know-how offering a helping hand. But can the cost be justified now that filings can be done electronically? As the court looks at evolving the role of agents, the CBA Supreme Court of Canada Liaison Committee would like to hear what members think. Please take a few minutes to complete this survey.
