National Section By-Law Amendments

WHEREAS the National Administrative Law Section wishes to increase the Members-at-Large on its Executive Committee;

WHEREAS the National Business Law Section wishes to increase the Members-at-Large on its Executive Committee and grant them voting status;

WHEREAS the National Privacy Law Section wishes to adopt a By-Law to meet its particular operational needs;

BE IT RESOLVED THAT:

  1. Article 5(a)(iii) of the By-Law of the National Administrative Law Section be amended by changing “three Members-at-Large” to “ten Members-at-Large”;
  2. The By-Law of the National Business Law Section be amended by:
    1. inserting as article 5(iii):

      not more than five voting Members-at-Large, appointed by the Officers and Branch Section Chairs to assist with the administration of the Section.;

    2. deleting “Member-at-Large” from article 6(a); and
    3. repealing article 7(vi);
  3. The French name of the National Privacy Law Section be changed from “Section nationale du droit relatif au respect de la vie privée” to “Section nationale du droit de la vie privée”;
  4. Article 6(7) of the CBA Regulation be amended by repealing the paragraph following “Privacy Law” and replacing it with:

    This Section deals with domestic and international law, policy and education related to privacy matters and access to information.  Where there is an overlap of interests concerning privacy or access to information matters, the Section works in consultation and communication with other Sections.

  5. Annex 1 be adopted as the By-Law of the National Privacy Law Section.
