The AGM we had in Montreal in August was so much fun we decided to do it again in February in Ottawa. Well, not quite – the bylaws require us to hold it then. Read on for the date and resolutions deadline.

The government introduced draft legislation in September to implement the changes announced in this year’s budget to limit the use of billed-basis accounting. The CBA was pleased to see that its recommendation for a longer implementation period was heeded. But access to justice issues remain.

By now all members will have had the opportunity to respond to one of two surveys done by Nanos Research since July to help the CBA better understand what its members need and want from the Association.

The Privacy and Access Law Section is the winner of this year’s National Sections Council Award of Excellence.

CBA International Initiatives played host in September to a delegation from the Vietnam Ministry of Justice, part of the CBA’s National Legislative Development project, which supports the implementation of a legislative reform taking place in Vietnam.

The Department of Canadian Heritage is now seeking applications from persons willing to serve as members of one of the two independent expert panels for the CCP – one for official language rights and one for human rights.
