Dean Scaletta of Winnipeg Acclaimed as National CBA Treasurer-elect

Ottawa – The President of the Canadian Bar Association (CBA), Michele Hollins, Q.C. has announced that Dean Scaletta of Winnipeg is acclaimed Treasurer-elect of the CBA for a three-year term beginning September 2015.

“Dean brings a thorough knowledge and years of CBA experience to the Treasurer’s position,” says Michele Hollins. “He understands the CBA’s financial priorities given his experience serving as Secretary-Treasurer of the Manitoba Bar Association since 2009 and as CCCA National Treasurer since 2011.”

Mr. Scaletta obtained his Bachelor of Commerce and his law degree from the University of Manitoba. He was called to the Manitoba Bar in 1982. He was in private practice until mid-1988 before joining the legal department of Manitoba Public Insurance. He is currently Director of Information and Legislation at Manitoba Public Insurance, a position he has held since June 2009.

An elected member of the Manitoba Bar Association Council since 2001, Dean Scaletta has also been actively involved in the CCCA serving as the Manitoba Chair (1999-2005), on the Board of Directors (2004-2008), and on the Interim Executive (2011). He was first elected as a Bencher of the Law Society of Manitoba in 2010 and has served on numerous Law Society committees.

The CBA is dedicated to support for the rule of law, and improvement in the law and the administration of justice. Some 36,000 lawyers, law teachers, and law students from across Canada are members.
