The CCCA Announces 2014 Award Winners

Calgary — The Canadian Bar Association’s (CBA) Canadian Corporate Counsel Association (CCCA) announced its roster of award winners for 2014.

The awards recognize CCCA members who raise the profile of the CCCA in the professional community; demonstrate strong participation within the profession, the CCCA and the organization that he or she serves; are involved in pro bono, community or corporate social responsibility; and whose career exemplifies the highest standards of service, conduct and professionalism for corporate counsel.

The 2014 CCCA award winners are:

R.V.A. Jones Award

Gordon Currie, Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer for both George Weston Limited and Loblaw Companies Limited

Up and Comer Award

Michael Jason of Winnipeg, Corporate Counsel at Richardson International Limited

Special Contribution Award

Kirby Chown, former Ontario Regional Managing Partner of McCarthy Tétrault and Carrie Mandel, Partner at Spencer Stuart and part of the firm's North American Legal, Regulatory and Compliance Practice

Professional Contribution Award

CBA President Fred Headon, Assistant General Counsel, Labour and Employment Law at Air Canada

Community Builder Award

Martina Lee, Senior Legal Counsel, Insurance Corporation of British Columbia

The awards will be presented at the CCCA’s Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony on Monday, April 7, 2014 in Calgary. This event is part of the 2014 CCCA National Conference. Media accreditation for the dinner and the conference may be obtained by contacting Hannah Bernstein at hannahb@cba.org.
