TORONTO – The Canadian Corporate Counsel Association (CCCA), the Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Conference (SOGIC) of the Canadian Bar Association (CBA), the Canadian Lesbian & Gay Archives (CLGA), and Pride at Work Canada will host a breakfast event and live webcast on Monday, February 25, 2013. The program will highlight the trailblazers in the area of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) inclusion within the workforce and promote the sharing of strategies and best practices to advance workplace diversity.
This event will showcase stories of plaintiffs involved in pivotal Canadian employment cases, provide up-to-date legislative context, and offer insights based on corporate initiatives. The event is targeted to in-house counsel, human resource professionals, diversity champions, and people managers.
Keynote speaker Michelle Douglas, a Canadian human rights activist who was involved in a landmark case examining lesbian and gay equality rights in the Canadian military, will share her personal story and provide insight on the future of equality and inclusion rights within Canadian organizations.
Following the keynote talk, lawyers and executives from companies who have implemented successful diversity and inclusion policies will discuss their experiences during a panel moderated by Mike Chalut, radio personality from Proud FM.
The breakfast takes place at the CLGA offices at 34 Isabella St., Toronto. Accredited media may attend at the CLGA offices on a first-come, first-served basis, where a room has been assigned to watch the webcast. Following the webcast, speakers will be available for media interviews. Alternatively, accredited media may view the webcast remotely.
