The Canadian Bar Association’s (CBA) 2016 Canadian Legal Conference takes place in Ottawa Aug. 12-14.

Benny Chan, a student at McGill University Faculty of Law, has won the 2016 Paul Smith Memorial Award.

Amélie Gravel , who began her law studies at the Université de Québec à Montréal in January, won the Sword and Scale award from the Military Law Section for her paper Victims of military infractions : Victims like any other.

The CBA believes that Canadians deserve to have confidence that candidates considered for appointment to the Supreme Court of Canada have the highest qualifications and are representative of society as a whole, taking into account language, gender and knowledge of Indigenous legal systems.
