The Pitch: Where startups state their case

  • May 20, 2016

The Pitch: Where startups state their case is a partnership between The Canadian Bar Association and LegalX, to find and showcase the next great legal innovation in Canada.

The pitch starts with a call for submissions, which will be winnowed down to a shortlist of five, and will culminate in the first-ever CBA/LegalX legal national innovation startup competition on August 12 in Ottawa, at the CBA’s annual conference.

The five selected start-ups will get seven minutes to sell their innovative ideas in front of a live audience, with an additional five minutes for questions from our panel of judges. The winning start-up will receive a two-week residency with LegalX at MaRS Discovery District in Toronto, including desk space for two team members, LegalX mentorship, along with the attention of investors in the legal innovation space and the opportunity to test their ideas with high-profile members of the legal industry.

All five finalists will be given a wild card to the interview round of CAMP (Chinese Angels Mentor Program) where, if selected (and pending due diligence), they will receive an equity investment of no less than $200,000.

For more information, or to find out how you can get your ideas in the mix, please visit The Pitch website. The Pitch is open to any startups with incorporation in Canada (provincially or federally). Startups should be either pre-revenue or have annual revenue under $120,000 (CAD).

Please note submissions are due by June 15 – help us spread the word!
