Kim Jakeman, Chair of the CBA End of Life Working Group, appeared before the Standing Senate Committee on Legal and Constitutional Affairs to discuss the changes to Bill C-14, An Act to amend the Criminal code and to make related amendments to others Acts (medical assistance in dying).
The CBA Working Group supports Criminal Code amendments to ensure a common understanding of the law in all provinces and territories. It urge the government to ensure that the amendments proposed under the bill align with the Supreme Court of Canada’s decision in Carter.
