About the Initiative

Lawyers in the CBA Immigration Law Section are spearheading an initiative to provide services, without charge, to individuals affected by the crisis in Afghanistan. These services include legal consultations and advice for those seeking to take advantage of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada’s facilitative initiatives and programs to bring eligible Afghani nationals to Canada. These special measures are detailed on the IRCC website.

Please note that some restrictions will apply. The services offered do not extend to other immigration applications, such as regarding those who are not affected by the current crisis in Afghanistan. Lawyers themselves will determine whether they would offer a free service, on a case-by-case basis. Clients should make their best efforts to fill out forms and prepare other documents on their own before seeking to consult one of the volunteer lawyers.

CBA volunteer immigration lawyers will only be able to offer pro bono assistance to individuals who have an application in process with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada or who have received an invitation from the Government of Canada. Please indicate in the Intake Form if you have an application in process or if you have received an invitation. If you do not have an application in process or have not received an invitation, you will not receive a response.
