The Future of the Legal Profession: Report on the State of Research

The legal profession is on the brink of unprecedented change.

According to a CBA study of the existing research by bar associations, law firms and thought leaders around the world, there’s little dispute that change is inevitable. Neither is there disagreement over the causes of the change, or even over the idea that something must be done to respond to it.

While there’s a fairly unprecedented consensus about the problem, however, the same cannot be said about a solution. It’s possible that the lack of a clear path to follow may merely reflect reality. Perhaps there are no obvious solutions to offer in the face of what could be described as a mounting existential crisis for law firms. On the other hand, perhaps answers can be found in the mosaic of responses being suggested, already being practiced by some.

Is there a silver-bullet solution to be found? Or is one even desirable?
