Implementation of Indigenous Self-Governance: Beyond Recognition

Courts and governments increasingly recognize that Indigenous governments have the inherent right to govern themselves and their lands in a way that reflects their diverse cultures, traditions, and needs. Recognition is only the first step – for the inherent right of self-governance to be fully expressed, it must be implemented in a meaningful way. This conference will explore varying approaches and perspectives to implementing Indigenous governing structures.
