YG Lawyers enjoy benefits of being a CBA member...for less!

YG lawyers are able to apply under the Professional and Technical Training Program (PTTP), to have up to 2/3 of their annual CBA membership fee reimbursed (e.g. this year funding was applied 1/3  Public Service Commission (“PSC”) , 1/3 Department of Justice (“DOJ”) and 1/3 YG lawyer);

2) YG lawyers complete the application form (found at http://www.psc.gov.yk.ca/llcd/tuition_support.html) and submit them to the Assistant Deputy Minister (“ADM”) and Human Resources (“HR”) for approval;

3) Following ADM and HR approval, the applications are sent to PSC-Staff Development for approval and funding allocation. These applications are considered on a case by case, year by year basis as the YG contribution comes from annual training budgets.

Since February, seven lawyers have applied under the PTTP and have successfully had 2/3 of their membership fee reimbursed.

This is a great step towards increasing our YG lawyer numbers – feel free to post this information on our website.

BC-YUKON Lawyers Directory

Each year the British Columbia branch of the CBA compile and distribute a 'Lawyers' Directory'. A few years ago BC invited Yukon lawyers to include their contact information in the directory at no cost! This tradition continues. The 2008 directory is underway. Watch your mailbox for an envelop from the BC-CBA branch. In the envelop there will be a listing update form. Take the time to fill out the form, fax it to BC and enjoy your FREE listing!

There will be a fee if you wish to increase your profile to include your area of expertise. Still a great deal!
