Fort St John - April 16, 2008 The Fort St John open house was held 4:30 pm to 9:00 pm at the Fort St John Courthouse at 10600 - 100 Street. The open house featured display booths from legal organizations and a mock trial that was held at 7:30 pm. Information sessions were held on dealing with drug houses, bail and bail hearings, family court, self representation and small claims self representation.

Kamloops - April 23, 2008 The 2008 Kamloops Law Day open house was held from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm at the Kamloops Courthouse at 455 Columbia Street. Law Day events in Kamloops offered variety of activities for the public, including a mock trial, RCMP demonstrations, courthouse tours and a Q&A session with a judge.

Nanaimo - April 12, 2008 The 2008 Nanaimo open house was held from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Nanaimo Courthouse at 35 Front Street. The Honourable Justice Bracken of the Supreme Court of British Columbia spoke on a topic related to "Access to Justice: Breaking Down Barriers." A question and answer period followed Justice Bracken’s presentation. Law Day events in Nanaimo included a mock trial, displays and demonstrations from legal organizations, free law classes and tours of the courthouse and law library.
A number of information kiosks from various legal organizations were present at the open house. These kiosks included the Nanaimo Court Registry with information on filing a civil claims and small claims action, the RCMP, the Nanaimo Correctional Center, the Federal Crown, the Provincial Crown, the Nanaimo Family Justice Hub, the Nanaimo Crisis Line, the Canadian Bar Association and the Nanaimo Haven Society.
The RCMP presented seminars on Parent’s Awareness and Restorative Justice. A canine unit, a motorcycle and vehicles were also on display and sheriffs provided tours of cells in the Nanaimo courthouse.

New Westminster - April 15, 2008 The New Westminster open house was held from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at the New Westminster Law Courts at 651 Carnarvon Street. Law Day events in New Westminster offered a variety of activities for the public, including a court orientation and tour, Q&A sessions with a judge, crown counsel and a deputy sheriff, and a mock trial. At 10:00 am a meet and greet took place outside the Law Courts at the Judge Begbie statue where a brief history of the New Westminster Law Courts was given. A victim service worker and a court clerk spoke about their roles and how they relate to the Law Week theme "Access to Justice: Breaking Down Barriers." The sheriffs provided an interesting sheriff vehicle display at the rear of the courthouse.
The Honourable Judge Steinberg of the Provincial Court of British Columbia, Jas Gahunia, David Hunter and Dave Emmerson discussed their roles and answered questions from the public.

Port Coquitlam - April 17, 2008 The 2008 Port Coquitlam open house was held from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Port Coquitlam Courthouse at 2620 Mary Hill Road. At 10:00 am a meet and greet took place outside the Law Courts at the steam clock. This year's events included a mock trial, a court orientation and tours. The Honourable Judge de Couto of the Provincial Court of British Columbia, Marlene Mann, Rob Gunnell and Valerie Christopherson discussed their roles and answered questions from the public.
Sgt Phil Reid of the Port Moody Police Department and a victim service worker spoke on a topic related to the Law Week theme "Access to Justice: Breaking Down Barriers." A sheriff vehicle display was held at the rear of the courthouse. |

Victoria -- April 19, 2008 The 2008 Victoria open house was held from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Victoria Courthouse at 850 Burdett Avenue. Law Day events in Victoria offered a variety of activities for the public, including a mock trial, a police information session by the Westshore RCMP, a Q&A session with members of the judiciary, and tours of courthouse in-custody facilities and sheriff vehicles. The Honourable Justice Metzger of the Supreme Court of British Columbia and The Honourable Judge Quantz of the Provincial Court of British Columbia answered questions from the public. There were door prizes such as a ride-along with the Saanich Police and gift certificates from local businesses.
Resource rooms with information on family law, criminal law and civil dispute resolution were available for members of the public as well as public legal information sessions and skits.
