Contests

aw Week is a national event held annually in April celebrating the signing of Canada’s Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Originated by the Canadian Bar Association and first held in Canada in 1983, Law Week provides an excellent opportunity for the profession to educate the public about the vital role that lawyers and the judiciary serve in guaranteeing an open, independent and unbiased judicial system.

Each year the BC Branch of the Canadian Bar Association invites students to participate in a variety of contests. We believe these province-wide contests offer students an opportunity to learn about the law and the judicial system.

A cornerstone event, the annual Barry Sullivan Law Cup public speaking contest is open to students enrolled in grades 11-12. The popular essay contest is open to students who are enrolled in grades 8-12. Please consult the links below to learn more.
