J. Parker MacCarthy, Q.C. of British Columbia to be Acclaimed National Second Vice-President

On December 16, immediate Past President Simon Potter announced that J. Parker MacCarthy, Q.C. of British Columbia will become the Second Vice-President of the CBA for 2004, by way of acclamation. The acclamation will become official at the CBA Mid-Winter Meeting of Council in Whitehorse, February 19-22.

Parker MacCarthy officially begins his climb up the ladder to the CBA presidency during the 2004-2005 term, and will become CBA president in August 2006.

Parker brings extensive Branch and National experience to the position. He served as President of the B.C. Branch from 1993-1994, as well as serving several terms on CBA Council, the National Executive and the Board of Directors.  Most recently he was Chair of the CBA General Practice, Solo and Small Firm Conference and served on the National Finance Committee from 2001-2003.

Mr. Potter congratulated Parker and thanked him for his hard work and commitment to the CBA over the past several years.
