"Accountability" has become one of the most significant principles in Canadian public life. From November 2 - 4, 2006, the Law Clerk of the Senate, the Law Clerk of the House of Commons and the CBA, in conjunction with a number of universities, will host the Accountability as a Pillar of Democratic Governing Conference in Ottawa.
Chief Justice Beverley McLachlin will be the major keynote speaker. The President of the International Criminal Tribunal for ex-Yugoslavia (ICTY) will also address the conference, as will a number of parliamentarians, judges, academics and legal practitioners, both from Canada and abroad.
The aim of the conference is to examine and explain the major aspects of accountability, its implications for the work of Parliament and its ramifications in governing. This will be the second in the Law & Parliament series of conferences.
We suggest you register early as, based on the overwhelming attendance in 2004, this year's conference is expected to fill up quickly.
