Have you watched the news lately? Canada's military deployment to Afghanistan and the global war on terror raise challenging new issues on a regular basis. Get behind the stories and jump into the debate October 24, as the National Military Law Section hosts its annual continuing legal education conference in Ottawa.

Speakers include:

Stephen Rapp
Prosecutor of the Special Court for Sierra Leone and former Chief of Prosecutions at the UN International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda.

Claude Bruderlein
Director of the Program on Humanitarian Policy and Conflict Research at Harvard University and   former Special Advisor to the UN on Humanitarian Affairs.

Andrée Perrier
Public and Labour Law Directorate, Office of the DND/CF Legal Advisor

Lorne Waldman and Craig Forcese
Lorne Waldman is a high-profile Toronto immigration and refugee lawyer who has been counsel in such cases as Razolzadeh, Charkaoui and Arar.  He recently won the 2007 Louis St-Laurent Award of Excellence from the Canadian Bar Association.  Craig Forcese is a professor of law at the University of Ottawa, specializing in public international law, national security law, administrative law, and public law & legislation.
