Description: Pro Bono Going Public 2011 – Sept. 13 in Kelowna and Sept. 16 in Victoria Access Pro Bono (“APB”) is still in need of Kelowna and Victoria lawyers to volunteer for its free legal advice-a-thon in September. In each free legal advice-a-thon location, volunteer lawyers will work in one-hour shifts throughout the day to advise individual clients in an open-air setting. Clients will be low- and modest-income individuals, including homeless people who may otherwise have limited access to traditional free legal advice clinics. Most clients will have pre-scheduled appointments, while others will simply drop in for free advice on a wide range of legal issues.

APB urges you to register today and participate in this unique event designed to serve the public, spread awareness around lawyers' efforts to increase access to justice, and raise $50,000 or more for APB's pro bono programs.

You may sign-up as an individual participant or join a fundraising team with colleagues at your firm. As a registered volunteer lawyer, you will be able to choose your preferred one-hour shift, during which time you will see one or two clients. The clients' legal issues will be matched to your areas of legal expertise, and we will conduct a thorough conflict check for each of them. You will receive a free t-shirt, and we will publicize and award prizes (including iPad 2s, iPhone 4s, Canucks tickets and travel adventures) to the top fundraisers and law firms.

If you have any questions regarding registration, please contact Annie Baric, Operations Coordinator by telephone at 604-482-3195 x. 1501 or by email at abaric@accessprobono.ca.
