The CBA National Law Students Section is seeking nominations for Chair, Vice-chair, Outreach Officer, Secretary and 10 Member-at-Large positions, for the term September 1, 2023 to August 31, 2024.

Chair

The Chair oversees activities, presides at meetings and conference calls and reports to the Board of Directors as required.

Vice-Chair

The Vice-Chair acts for the Chair in the absence or inability of the Chair to act, attends meetings and conference calls and assists the Chair and Executive Committee as needed.

Outreach Officer

The Outreach Officer ensures that Section members are informed of key Section activities, upcoming events, and opportunities to get involved in the work of the Section and assist the Executive Committee as needed.

Secretary

The Secretary prepares minutes of meetings and conference calls in a timely manner and assists the Executive Committee as needed.

Roles and expectations for each position

Members-at-Large

Members-at-Large attend meetings and conference calls as they are able and provide input or take responsibility for various tasks as they arise.

Nominations

Nominations must be received by May 31, 2023. Candidates must be student members of the CBA. Student members are those who are: (i) Enrolled at a recognized Canadian law school OR (ii) Articling OR (iii) A Canadian citizen studying at a foreign law school OR (iv) Bar students with a Canadian law society or NCA.

When filling positions, the Section takes various factors into account, including language, geographic representation and diversity. We consider members who are familiar with and active in Section activities, but also seek new participants.
