Hear from the young lawyers behind this initiative

Last October, the Mental Health and Awareness Committee of the Young Lawyers Section ran the first annual “Law Needs Wellness Because…” campaign. The campaign invited members of the legal community from all over the country to share a photo with their reflections on why wellness is important for our profession. It drew inspiration from two successful previous campaigns: McGill Law’s “Law Needs Feminism Because…” campaign as well as a similar wellness campaign undertaken at the CBA’s 2018 Midwinter Meeting in New Brunswick.

The aim of the campaign was to normalize conversations about mental health and inspire lawyers to take good care of themselves. Using #lawneedswellnessbecause on Twitter and Facebook, the first annual Law Needs Wellness Because… campaign was a big success, with 623 Tweets, 118 Facebook frame downloads, and media coverage in Slaw Magazine.

Check out the campaign photos and other wellness resources for young lawyers.
