ABA meetings - a valuable journey

For the past several years, the Women Lawyers Forum has been fortunate to send a representative to two meetings of the ABA – the midyear meeting and the annual meeting. This year the midyear meeting took place in Las Vegas in January. The midyear meeting is held at the same time as the meeting of the executive of the National Conference of Women’s Bar Associations.

As the current chair of the WLF, I had the privilege of attending the midyear meeting and representing the CBA and the WLF at meetings of both the ABA Commission on Women in the Profession and the NCWBA.

There is so much value in this networking opportunity because it provides us with information about, and access to programs that are being developed and used by the CWP and the NCWBA specifically related to the issues that are of interest to members of the CBA WLF including:

In addition, having a representative of the WLF attend these meetings allows for a cross-border exchange of ideas, gives us access to leaders in profession in the United States and allows us to showcase and promote some of our programs including our bi-annual Leadership Conference (website to be updated shortly) to a wide audience.
