Updates from an active Section

  • March 20, 2023

Our Section continues to be active on a variety of fronts. We are establishing our toe-hold in social media (see our activities on LinkedIn and Twitter), law students in Calgary and Montreal can look forward to a lunch and learn on the practice of municipal law in April, and we are pleased that our first Award of Excellence was presented to Gwendolyn J. Stewart-Palmer, K.C. on March 16, 2023 by Michael Gunther, Secretary on our Executive.

LAW STUDENT ENGAGEMENT

Our Section will organize two law student events this spring in partnership with the CBA Alberta Branch and the CBA Quebec Branch.

Law Students please register for these upcoming events if you are in the area:

Students who are curious about the practice of municipal law should join us and share this event in your network! Both in-house and external counsel will be present to answer your questions and talk about how and why they became municipal lawyers, what it’s like to work for local governments, and the difference local government lawyers can make in their communities. We look forward to seeing you there!

ENTER OUR ESSAY CONTEST

If you know any Law Students or if you are one yourself, please consider entering the Section’s essay contest (May 2, 2023 deadline). Entrants have a chance to win a $500 cash prize and have their essay published on the Section webpage.
