Jump into the new year, volunteer!

  • September 24, 2019

The Executive is working hard to make this CBA year memorable, educational, and fun. I am honoured to be the Chair of the CBA National International Law Section for the next twelve months. I plan to work with my predecessors to build on the excellent work that has brought the Section where it is today. The Executive features many of the best lawyers in Canada practising international law and committed to advancing our legal community.

The upcoming year promises to deliver exciting brown bag sessions, develop a new issue of the Canadian International Lawyer (CIL), strengthen our relationship with the Canadian government and the ABA Section of International Law, produce networking opportunities, and create the Human Rights and Business toolkit, with input from various Sections.

It will be a busy year with many activities to look forward to. I hope you continue to be active and engaged members of our Section and I look forward to seeing all of you at our many events this year.

UPCOMING EVENTS:

Register for the October 7, 2019 keynote address and panel discussion with this year’s recipient of the OBA Award of Excellence in International Law, Ms. Valerie Hughes.

PUBLICATION

The Executive is excited to relaunch the CIL, the Section’s prestigious peer-reviewed journal on topics of interest to practitioners of international law in Canada. Contributing to the CIL is a great way to get involved or brush up on international law topics. The next edition is expected to be published Fall 2020; past issues are available online. Our Past Chair, Andrew Lanouette, serves as the editor-in-chief.

COMMUNICATION

Want to get involved? Contact Ewa Gosal, Communications Officer, to submit articles to the webpage or provide input on future webinar ideas. For more information and updates on programs and events, visit our Section’s webpage or LinkedIn page.
