The International Initiatives Taskforce established the CBA International Initiatives program as an important and viable part of the CBA’s mandate to improve the law, the administration of justice and access to justice.

What We Do

The Taskforce consists of three members with Canadian expertise, international experience and knowledge of development issues. Since 1990, our work has taken us to 30 countries spanning five continents.

Our Expertise

Members must commit for at least two years and have the following expertise:

  • Demonstrated experience or interest in international development
  • Professional experience in program focus areas (e.g. governance, access to justice, administration of justice, etc.)
  • A profile within the profession and/or the CBA
  • Able to commit a minimum of two years
  • Geographic and gender balance on the committee is also considered

Time Commitment

The Taskforce meets at least twice a year and spends approximately 10 days per year attending meetings and providing expertise.
